Plastic air freshener/toilet cleaners like the one pictured, look lovely and give a nice disinfectant feel about the toilet bowl but use them at your peril as this householder in Booterstown found out. When the toilet is sat upon quite often the freshener gets knocked against and falls in to the bowl and sure who wants to get their hands dirty fishing them out so the temptation is to just flush the nasty crittur away.
These fresheners just wedge nicely in the waste pipe at the back of the toilet and can be a divil to get back out.
Here we see where the old cast iron pipe is replaced had to be cut to make the necessary extraction. The cut is made at the top to prevent any future leakage when the cut_out section is replaced with a lick of silicone sealant.
