How not to install a gas pipe
Quite often the gas company use what's called a 'pig' or a ' bullet' to assist them when installing an incoming gas pipe.
The system bores a hole underground and the pipe is fed through this hole.
All very well in theory as it saves digging up but, as can be seen from the photo, the bullet finds its own way and can go through sewer pipes,water mains etc and the problem might not manifest until weeks or even months later when the contractors are long gone-and then the fun begins..
